THE MUSE BRECON…
Sep 13th 2025 (the first of our autumn club events)
The nights are now starting to draw-in chilly out too…

Myself with Julian Lewis / Suzy Cargill / Liz Jones / Ian Jones (Cousin of Liz ?) / Ruth Gibbs & Ian Keddle
So down to the wonderful muse Saturday night to see Liz Jones and Suzy Cargill, billed as “Folk blues roots and world”. Now I’d never heard of them, but I know Angus always puts on a good gig so rocked up looking forward to some great tunes. I wasn’t disappointed. Liz has a voice that grabs you, one of those that sound like it’s been pickled in vodka and dried in tobacco smoke (Tho I’m sure she’s a clean-living girl). She plays raunchy acoustic rhythm guitar assisted by Suzy on percussion, mandolin and backup vocals. The tunes were from the heart and sung with real connection to the audience. Hopefully they should be back in April 2026 with a full band. Don’t miss em!

Special guest act Disque Bleu comprising of Ian Jones on bass and vocals and Julian Lewis on rhythm and lead guitar. The set was an interesting mix of laid-back blues, country and other genres. As a bass player myself I say fair play to anyone playing bass and singing (sometimes in a foreign language) … whilst wearing shades.
